This was originally featured in the July – Sew Your Bag box.

It is a beginner friendly tote which can be made in any material but is geared towards a 100% cotton for ease of sewing on a domestic machine.  There is NO HARDWARE required pattern.

Skills included are:

  • Drop in lining
  • Boxed corners
  • Interior slip pocket
  • Handles and
  • Center ties for added security

Material Required:

  • 3/4 yd cotton (exterior and accents)
  • 1/2 yd cotton (interior)
  • 1 yd woven interfacing
  • 1/2 yd foam
  • 1/8 yd non-woven interface

    This will always be my favorite fabric because it was the first. I have also made a matching skirt. I have learned so much about making bags from this one simple pattern. I now understand how to cut rectangles and how to make better handles that are stronger and easier to make. I understand the difference between the interfacings!
