    The Kijani Simple Pouch introduces zipper installation.  It was designed to compliment the Kijani Crossbody Bag but is perfect all by itself.

    It is a beginner friendly pouch which can be made in any material but is geared towards a 100% cotton for ease of sewing on a domestic machine.

    Skills included are:

    • Using zipper by the yard
    • Zipper tab
    • Fold over zipper end
    • Turning bag through the lining (aka “birthing”)

    Material Required:

    • 1/4 yd cotton (exterior}
    • 1/4 yd cotton (interior)
    • 1/4 woven interfacing
    • 1/4 yd foam
    • 8″zipper

    The Sahara Messenger introduces a different construction for the outside and the lining.  The exterior body comes together with 5 pieces (minus flap) while the interior uses 2 main pieces with an accent at the top.

    This was originally featured in the August 2021 – Sew Your Bag box.

    • 5 piece exterior construct plus flap closure
    • Exterior slip pocket
    • Creating a double sided strap using cotton webbing.
    • Installing a magnetic closure
    • Adding handle hardware

    • 3/4 yd cotton (exterior and accents)
    • 1/2 yd cotton (interior)
    • 1 yd woven interfacing
    • 1/2 yd foam
    • 1/8 yd non-woven interface
