The Kijani Crossbody Bag introduces a different zipper installation. It was designed to showcase 2 different ways to install zipper by the yard.
This was originally featured in the September 2021 – Sew Your Bag box.
It is a beginner friendly tote which can be made in any material but is geared towards a 100% cotton for ease of sewing on a domestic machine.
Skills included are:
- Drop in lining
- Reversible adjustable straps.
- Exterior slip pocket including gusseted cell phone/eye glass pocket
- Creating a double sided strap using cotton webbing.
- Installing interior zipper and zipper placard closure
- Adding handle hardware
Material Required:
- 3/4 yd cotton (exterior and accents)
- 1/2 yd cotton (interior)
- 1 yd woven interfacing
- 1/2 yd foam
- 1/8 yd non-woven interface
- Scrap yard Decovil light

I have really come to love the Ankara fabric and this bag pattern is so unique. It is not difficult, but you learn a lot of techniques you can use with other bags
